Words cannot express my respect and honor for all of you at Oroville Hospital. The ER, ICU, and now Unit II, Thank you, thank you, thank you for not giving up hope, thank you for believing in Darlene, thank you for not letting me lose hope.
To all of Dar's Dream Team, I love you all .

Fantastic News

Praise God,

Tonight at around 7:00 I was telling Dar that I needed to go home and give Maverick his pilly willys and his cookie treat. I thought I saw her smile. I found her nurse and told her that I thought I made Dar smile. Sarah was excited but needed to see it herself for documentation, so I told Dar what I needed to do and again she smiled, yep a definate smile.

I then decided to see if I could get more reactions from her so I told her the story with more feeling and low and behold Dar started laughing. Not a chuckle but a full blown eyes squinted happy laugh. If not for the trach I think we would have heard it.

But as Paul Harvey says, " now the rest of the story". We made her laugh and smile with Maverick stories at least a half a dozen times. Even the night nurse Jennifer got in on the act. I then left to start making calls, crying and laughing all the way, when I returned Sarah told me that Dar moved her right arm. In fact Sarah had to tell her to stop so she could change her bandage. I did not see this but Sarah showed me later that she could get Dar to do it again. She pulled back the sheets and told Dar that she was going to pinch her, Dar flinched, then when Sarah actually pinched Dar she pulled right out of her grasp. She did this twice, this is what is called reaction to pain stimulus. A very good thing, Only on the right but a great start.

A really great start because tomorrow the Santa Clara Valley Med Center is sending up an evaluator to access Dar for transfer to their facility in Santa Clara. So you see how monumental this is. This facility is one of the premier facilities in Calif and the country. Please pray that Dar gets rest tonight and that tomorrow will be a great day for her.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your prayers, I know their have been literally hundreds of folks praying for her and I will never be able to thank you, but from the bottom of my heart thank you is not enough, God has his hand in this and miracles do happen, I just witnessed several tonight. Please continue to keep Dar in your thoughts as you begin your day tomorrow and thank Him for His Blessings when you retire for the night.

Good night friends

All my love, Danny

Dar and Danny at Burney Falls

This photo was taken while on vacation at Lake Margaret near Burney Ca. We were camping with friends, Joe, Robin and Stacy Sousa. I had just had my first wrist fusion surgery and was in a cast but still managed to land a bunch of nice trout with Joe and Stacy. The lake was a very small but beautiful spot full of nice trout. We took a trip into Burney and went to Burney Falls and had a really great time. Maverick chased geese in the lake and got so caught up in the chase that Joe and I had to rescue him in a boat. I think he thought he would catch up to them. Typical Parson Jack Russell, stubborn as mule when they want to be.

Well it is 4:00 am and Mav and I are off to the hospital to see Dar and then I am going to go to work. It is going to feel very strange not being with Dar as I have been. I really hope we get word from Santa Clara today.

Keep your prayers coming and I will let you all know what we learn later tody. Again, thank you for your prayers and as always " we love you", till later................................... Danny and Mav

"don't mom and dad look "fab" ?

The picture of mom and dad was taken in Reno where they attended the wedding of some friends. You know as I think about it Dar and Danny have been pretty much inseperable since they got married . You can bet I am around somewhere, cuz they make sure to include me in most everything they do. We love to travel in our big travel trailer with the quads on the the pick up. We also like to take the boat out to the lake and danny fishes for bass and mom does her crafts or paints. I get to chase the fish that dad catches all around the boat. I will show you some pictures of some of our trips we have taken. We have had lots of good times together. Our latest "toy" is a Polaris Ranger Side by Side. Dad sold the quads so that we good all go together when mom could get the time off. The Polaris sitting on the rack in the pick-up and the truck pulling the trailer looks really cool. When danny backs the Ranger off the truck it looks rally steep. I get to sit in the dump bed and have a blast .

Well today we learned that Dar may be going to Santa Clara, we don't know where exactly or when but Danny may hear something tomorrow while he is at work. he is going to return and has set up protocols how to get ahold of him.

Darlene spent another restfull day and continues to have good vitals and is still breathing well. Stilll can't focus the eyes or respond to requests. {lease keep praying, dad just got home and gave me my dinner and meds so he will be off to bed soon and back at it very early tomorrow.

We thank you again for your prayers and support, we love you all

Mommy and Me.... Mr Awesome dog " Maverick"

Hi everyone, dad thought it was about time you met the one that really runs the house. Yep, me, Maverick.

I just wanted to take a minute and tell you how special mom is to me and that I really appreciate your prayers and special thoughts. When I came to live with dad I was a Christmas present a year before they got married. I was already two years old and came from a really great home but I was a terror. Not bad, just a terror. Well, dad took control and taught me so much stuff I bet he regrets some of it.

Then there is mom, we spend alot of tiime together while dad is at work and if she is not working a really late shift at the Wally World I get to go and sit in the car and look at folks. If she is working the Post Office in Bangor I go and wait for her to get off and she lets me run and play and find one acorn and bring it to the car, sometimes I get two and hide one for later. As I said earlier you can tell who runs and rules the roost, yep I do. I just let them think they do but I have them wrapped around my paw.

Well, enough about me for now, mom got moved to a private room today about 5:00 pm. She is resting very well and is still opening her eyes but is haveing a hard time with focusing. Dad tells me that he knows that she hears him and sometimes she will even shed a little tear.

Dad heard today that there might be some progress moving mom to a special facility. Nothing concrete but thats what he heard. The next few days are very critical and dad says he is going to make sure that the people lokking into a facility are very aggressive in their search.

Please continue to pray for mom, I am pretty confused mysef but dad is doing his best to assure me. He takes me to the hospital and points to moms window and I sit in the front seat and watch for a long time. Dad told me he even tried to get me to her room but did not have tottal success. The nurses thought it was great some of them have seen me in the parking lot when dad lets me out to run. Yep, then I put me "awesome dog" spell on them and they fall in love with me to just like they have mommy.

Well dad is going to try to get some sleep tonight before we go back to see mom, I do my best to comfort him but he is struggling too. Please keep your prayers coming and I will write to you all again

We all love you and you are so special, thank you all

" I can't reach the gas"!!!!!"

Janurary 2 2009,

I made I made it through the night and was even able to sleep some. Thank you for your prayers.
Dar continues to rest peacefully and is breathing very well on her own. Today they started both physical and occupationall therapy.
She has her favorite music playing in the background and her stuffed bear from her bed in her hands. Her nurses always make sure that she is looking beautiful at all times.
We continue to wait and hear of where they feel her best care will be given. Today I even heard some new names mentioned.
This now waiting game is tough, but in the grand scheme of things the best is what we want for Dar. Again I thank you for all of your prayers and well wishes. Keep em comin.
Hopefully those following this blog have saved this to their favorites and are not havving trouble staying up to date.
Keep Dar in your prayes and agian I thank each and every one of you.
Love, Danny

This morning Dar is sleeping well and has opened her eyes several times, as I said I truely believe that she is trying to wake up
